Yes, thank you. I am appalled by the idea that it is okay to hit anyone for what he says. Punching the man was an absolute wrong, worse than racist remarks--but let me make it clear that I regard his remarks as grossly unethical, cruel, and humiliating.

Knocking someone unconscious can have life-long neurological problems and the man's family members will have to pay for the after effects by living with a brain-damaged man.

The proper response: get witnesses and file a complaint with the police department. Make sure the guy loses his job because who wants a racist cop who gets drunk and nasty at weddings? I am a white female and even I don't want this man wearing a badge and carrying a gun. I also think the offended man should sue for harassment or damages. Some good lawyer would know how to do it.
