Yes. How much cruelty is inflicted in the name of "love." (However, not only Christians do it.)

Mother Theresa is a prime example. Her home for the dying in Calcutta inflicted gratuitous humiliation and cruelty on the patients and yet she is a saint.

I can't tell you how many times I have sat in Protestant churches and heard pastors talk about spanking their female children--well into their adolescence--and thought they seemed so angry, so obsessed with the topic, that I wondered if they were spanking fetishists. OF COURSE they said they were motivated by love and the Bible.
