What you wrote about celebrating African-American accomplishments is great. Decades ago, I read a book about the founding of HBCUs and was deeply moved by the courage of African Americans, many of them women, who confronted severe poverty, Jim Crow, and violence directed against the black community, to found a network of colleges.

As far as I know, no other minority group in America achieved such a grand accomplishment. I am awed whenever i think of it.

Yes, white privilege is real. Yes, systemic racism is real--although it is sometimes to distinguish it from class inequality.

But by an *exclusive* focus on racism, we run the risk of overlooking the truly great things the African American community has done.
