Millions of highly traumatized men came home from the World Wars and started families and poured all their trauma into the minds of their children. That trauma has been passed down through subsequent generations. That’s the real lasting legacy of those wars, not the stuff in the movies.

Yes. Listen to the children born to military veterans and forget about Brokaw's "Greatest Generation" bromides.

The harsh treatment of children that bordered on abuse and sometimes crossed the line into abuse is the reality of men who came home. Not all, but many.

But the voices of children remain unheard because acknowledging this reality would undercut the propaganda that is necessary to get us to accept modern wars.
