I am so sorry you had this experience. It has always bothered me that too often in Hollywood movies, a heroic white person rescues a "pathetic" black person.

In the real world, it is often the other way around.

I can't tell you how many times I have received help, unasked, from African Americans when white people stood by and let me struggle with something.
