Can I suggest a transition? Maybe ask him to work part-time?

Lots of organizations like the Boys and Girls Club have after-school care programs for low-income kids. That way, he could ease back into working outside the home and work part-time.

It would not be such a huge leap from what he is doing and it would bring in a little extra money.

Or, suggest a home business like, I don't know, making organic soap, growing a small herb garden and selling the herbs. Can he work with his hands? Can he write some articles for money?

Drive for Uber?

It would depend on his skills and the economic needs in your area.

I feel for the guy. He has worked HARD being a stay-at-home parent and now he is being asked to switch gears after a long time. I also wonder if he is a little embarrassed to explain to a potential employer that he was a care giver since men do not get acceptance for this role.
