A few random thoughts:
1. Allen claims never to have served as Soon Yi's father or father figure. I find that disingenuous. Mothers' boyfriends may not be parents, technically, but they are often given parent-like status in a household. The situation is, therefore, ambiguous. It is hard not to fault Allen for taking up with Soon Yi.
2. No other accusations of pedophilia have ever been made against Allen. I find it unlikely that he would *suddenly* develop this interest AND that no other victims--if there had been any--would come forward.
If he had had this interest, a man with his fame and money could EASILY have found a woman with fewer and younger children that he could discreetly abuse. Apparently, this never happened.
3. Incompetent psychologists have convinced people that they have repressed memories of abuse and they later came to believe these "memories" of things that never happened.
Did this happen in Dylan's case?
Maybe Moses is right and Dylan needs her mother's approval so much that she is willing to lie. Or maybe Dylan is telling the truth. Or thinks she is telling the truth. We have no way of knowing.
4. A just society grants the accused the presumption of innocence. On the other hand, we should grant Dylan the same presumption as failing to do is to accuse her of something heinous.
I find it disturbing when people are convicted in public opinion and risk losing careers, social respectability, and undergo a very public and cruel humiliation when the people making the judgment have NO first-hand knowledge.
